There are several different grades of stainless steel, each has its unique benefits and applications.

304 stainless steel wire mesh is the most common type of stainless steel, made of 8% nickel and 18% chromium. It has good corrosion resistance and wear resistance.

316 stainless steel wire mesh, Compared with 304, 316 adds molybdenum, making it better in corrosion resistance, especially for water containing chloride ions (such as seawater) or corrosion in chloride environments.

316L stainless steel wire mesh has a lower carbon content than 316. This helps reduce the intergranular corrosion tendency of the alloy and improve its corrosion resistance.

310S stainless steel wire mesh is an austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steel with good oxidation resistance, corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance, and continuous operation at high temperatures.

430 stainless steel wire mesh is low in price and good in processability. It is an ideal substitute for SUS304, with good stress corrosion resistance and magnetic properties.

904L super austenitic stainless steel wire mesh is a low-carbon, high-nickel, molybdenum austenitic stainless acid-resistant steel. It has good activation-passivation transformation ability and excellent corrosion resistance.

Duplex stainless steel wire mesh has significantly improved resistance to intergranular corrosion and chloride stress corrosion, has excellent pitting corrosion resistance, and is also a nickel-saving stainless steel.

Weave Type of Stainless Steel Wire Cloth We Manufacturer

Stainless steel woven wire mesh has a strong structure and many applications, there are several typical weave types, and each weave type has its unique advantage, weave types include plain weave, twill weave, and (plain/twill) dutch weave.
We manufacture both of these wire mesh weave types. And we have both of these weave types of stainless steel wire mesh in stock.

Plain weave: Each warp wire crosses and passes up and down each weft wire, the warp wire and weft wire are at a 90-degree angle, the holes are square and uniform in size.

Twill weave: Each warp wire crosses and passes up and down every 2 weft wire, the warp wire and weft wire are at a 90-degree angle, the holes are square, compared with plain weave, the wire diameter is larger and the mesh surface can be thicker.

Plain Dutch weave: Each warp wire crosses and passes up and down each weft wire, and each weft wire crosses and passes up and down each warp wire.

Twill Dutch weave: Each warp wire crosses and passes up and down every 2 wefts wire, and each weft wire crosses and passes up and down every 2 warp wire.

Dutch weave can achieve finer holes, the finest can reach 1 micron hole.

Mesh Size of SUS Wire Mesh

The mesh size of stainless steel wire mesh includes wire diameter, mesh count, and hole size. They are the basic information when ordering the stainless steel wire cloth.

The specifications of the stainless steel wire mesh we manufacture:

Mesh count: 2-3500 mesh
Hole size: 0.001-25mm
Roll size: 0.914mx30m, 1mx30m, 1.2mx30m, 1.5mx30m, 2mx30m, etc

Mesh count: The mesh count of the filter mesh refers to the number of mesh holes per inch in length.
Usually “mesh” is used as a unit, such as 20 mesh, 40 mesh, etc. The larger the mesh number, the smaller the mesh hole and the higher the filtering accuracy.

Aperture/Hole Size: The aperture refers to the size of each mesh hole in the filter mesh.
The size of the aperture directly affects the filtering accuracy and flow rate of the filter.
Generally, the smaller the aperture, the higher the filtering accuracy, but at the same time it will lead to a decrease in flow rate.

Wire diameter: The wire diameter refers to the diameter of the metal wire in the wire mesh.
The size of the wire diameter directly affects the strength and durability of the filter.
Generally, the larger the wire diameter, the higher the strength of the filter, but at the same time it will lead to an increase in cost.

There is a direct relationship between the mesh count and the aperture:

The conversion relationship between count and aperture is mesh count = 25.4/(aperture+wire diameter).

For example, 60 mesh stainless steel 304 mesh, 0.15mm wire diameter, the aperture is (25.4/60)-0.15=0.2733mm80 mesh 316L stainless steel wire cloth, 0.12mm wire diameter, the aperture is (25.4/80)-0.12=0.1975mm

Please note this conversion is only valid for plain and twill weave mesh.

The mesh count, aperture, and wire diameter of the Dutch weave mesh are fixed, and there is a specification table for reference. Please check the section on the mesh specifications table at the bottom of this page.

Stock of SS Wire Mesh
