Arrangement classification of hole types of perforated mesh products:
1. Round holes are staggered 60°, and plum blossom arrangement is a product with high strength and wide opening rate in triangular form and exquisite appearance, which has become the most used product.
2. Round holes are staggered 45°, and the 45° plum blossom arrangement is relatively the strongest (equilateral triangle), providing customers with another plum blossom arrangement option.
3. Straight arrangement of round holes: Straight arrangement is also a common arrangement method. The straight arrangement can also have various holes and opening rates, but it is the worst arrangement in the round hole series in terms of compression resistance.
4. Staggered oblong holes: Staggered oblong holes are generally staggered at 45° and 60°, mainly used for solid screening.
5. Long round holes in a row: Long round holes in a row are mainly used in vibrating screens and filtration.
6. Hexagonal holes can maximize the opening rate.

Perforated metal sheet processing method

  • Continuous punching in the same direction: using rectangular perforated mesh dies to partially overlap processing, you can process long holes, trimming, etc.
  • Continuous forming: forming a larger size than the perforated mesh dies, such as large-size blinds, rolling ribs, rolling steps, etc.
  • Erosion: using a small round die to continuously punch arcs with a smaller step distance.
  • Multi-directional continuous punching: using a small perforated mesh die to process large holes.
  • Single forming: a shallow deep drawing forming method according to the shape of the die.
  • Single punching: punching is completed in a single time, including linear distribution, arc distribution, circumferential distribution, and grid hole punching.
  • Array forming: processing multiple identical or different workpieces on a large plate.

Leveling of perforated mesh

The stainless steel perforated sheet is a perforated metal sheet formed by punching holes in a metal plate using a CNC punch. Due to various factors during the production process, the perforated mesh will be deformed or even rolled into a cylinder.

This requires leveling. The following is an analysis of the reasons for the deformation of the perforated stainless steel sheet and how leveling works.

Why it deforms:

  • It is related to the material.
    Different materials have different degrees of deformation after punching. Stainless steel has the largest degree of deformation and is difficult to level. This is because stainless steel has a certain toughness, so later leveling requires many steps;
  • It is related to the aperture and hole spacing. The smaller the hole and the denser the spacing, the worse the flatness. When the punch needle and the stainless steel sheet are subjected to force during CNC punching, the punching process will make the plate hard and difficult to level.
  • What affects the flatness is the margin of the plate. The larger the margin, the worse the flatness, especially the larger the opening rate, the larger the aperture, and the larger the blank space on the four sides is particularly difficult to level. We have professional leveling equipment and will do our best to level the plate for the convenience of customers.

How to solve:

In summary, after the perforated steel sheet is processed, it needs to be leveled. The so-called “leveling” uses equipment such as a leveling machine to restore the SS perforated sheet after CNC punching to its original flat state.
Usually, the perforated metal sheet needs to be cleaned after leveling, during which lubricants will be used for treatment to make the CNC punching plate cleaner.
A higher leveling pressure is required to make the perforated stainless steel mesh flat. The stainless steel perforated metal mesh passes between two rows of cross-arranged rollers of the multi-roller leveling machine. Each part is repeatedly bent in the opposite direction under stress exceeding its material yield point, which eliminates the wavy deformation on the punching sieve plate, and the sheet material coming out of the machine is flat.

Maintenance tips for stainless steel perforated metal mesh

Stainless steel perforated metal mesh are generally made of 304, 316, and 316L stainless steel sheets as raw materials, and are made of CNC punching.

It is used in various separation, screening, washing and filtering, ventilation and drying, heat dissipation, silencing, purification, and other aspects. Its characteristics are flat, smooth, beautiful, sturdy, and durable.

We must pay attention to maintenance during use to achieve the purpose of extending the service life.
Here are the maintenance tips for stainless steel perforated sheets.

  1.  Use spray and maintenance.
  2. When cleaning the surface of the stainless steel perforated mesh, be careful not to scratch the surface.
Avoid using bleach ingredients and abrasive detergents, steel balls, and grinding tools, and then when finally getting rid of the detergent, rinse the surface with clean water.
  3. The surface of the stainless steel perforated plate is dusty and easy to remove dirt. Wash with soap, weak detergent, or warm water.
  4. If the surface of the stainless steel perforated plate is trademarked, or filmy, wash with warm water and weak detergent.
Grease, oil, and lubricating oil contaminated on the surface of the stainless steel sieve plate, clean with a soft cloth, and then with a neutral detergent or ammonia solution.
  5. The surface of the stainless steel perforated sieve plate should be bleached and exposed to various acids. Wash it with water immediately, then soak it in ammonia solution or neutral carbonated soda solution, and then clean it with a mild detergent or warm water.

Perforated metal sheet detail application

Micro-hole perforated mesh can be manufactured using metal plates of different materials such as iron plate (cold-rolled plate, hot-rolled plate, galvanized plate), aluminum plate, stainless steel plate, copper plate, etc.

Fish scale hole perforated sheet is manufactured by continuous stamping on a CNC punching machine using a fish scale hole mold according to a specific spacing. Fish scale hole perforated metal sheet is mainly used in dryers, grain warehouse ventilation and other fields.

Wear-resistant perforated metal mesh is mainly used in places where the hardness of the perforated plate is relatively high, such as crushers, pulverizers, mining equipment and other fields.
Wear-resistant perforated mesh is usually manufactured with manganese plate as raw material. Manganese plate is a high-strength wear-resistant steel plate, which is much stronger than other ordinary steel plates in terms of wear resistance, impact resistance and extrusion resistance.

Fine hole perforated mesh refers to perforated mesh products with apertures ranging from 0.2mm-1mm. The perforated mesh products with fine round holes of stainless steel material such as 0.2mm, 0.4mm, 0.5mm, 0.6mm, 0.7mm, 0.8mm, 1.0mm can be produced.

Filter perforated metal mesh deep processing bending filter perforated mesh can be bent according to demand, and the bending height, bending angle, bending shape, etc. can be customized.
Filter perforated wire mesh is usually bent into a tray form, with four sides bent. Cutting filter punching net can be cut into any size and shape according to user needs.

Other things you need to know about perforated steel mesh

  • The opening area of the perforated mesh

The porosity is the effective screening area, also known as the “opening area”, which refers to the ratio between the punching area and the whole plate (the total area of the mesh and the area of the whole plate in the same perforated mesh), expressed as a percentage.
The size of the porosity represents the size of the available screening area. Regular hexagonal holes can maximize the porosity, so regular hexagonal hole perforated mesh is widely used in industrial production.
You must pay attention to the pressure of the punching equipment can cause the deformation of the plate, and the larger the porosity, the more obvious the deformation of the plate, especially when there is no edge left at the four corners.

  • Calculation of opening area

Let’s take an example below, such as a round hole mesh with a hole diameter of 2mm, 60 degrees staggered, a center distance of 4mm, and an outer size of 1mx2m.
Based on this information, we can conclude that the porosity of this specification of perforated mesh is about 23%, that is, the sum of the area of the punched holes is 0.46 square meters (1m*2m*23%).

  • Perforated mesh margin

The margin refers to the non-perforated area on the edge of the plate.
Typically, the long side of the perforated plate needs to be margined. If you have special requirements, you need to provide us with the dimensions of the four sides.

  • Perforated metal sheet tolerance

Perforated sheets are allowed to have certain tolerances in thickness, margin, opening rate, flatness, etc. Like the manufacturing process of other products, the stricter the tolerance requirements, the higher the corresponding production cost. Therefore, you need to determine the specific tolerance of your product. If there are no special requirements, we will execute according to the standard tolerance.
